    'Abdu'l-Bahá Addresses Howard University

He addressed over a thousand students, faculty, and guests at Howard University's Rankin Chapel in Washington, D.C., rejecting racial hierarchy and framing racial diversity as a source of beauty rather than division; Louis Gregory, who had helped arrange the visit, stood at his side.

'Abdu'l-Bahá Addresses the NAACP in Chicago

He addressed the NAACP's Fourth Annual Conference twice in one day, at Hull House and at Handel Hall, while nearby the Bahá'í Temple Unity convention elected Louis Gregory to its governing board after a white delegate stepped aside in his favor — a striking act for 1912.
